PVT. CO. D
Raymond Bellamy was born March 18, 1890 in Yoakum, DeWitt County, Texas, to Oscar Newton Bellamy and Rosa Minda Schwab. Raymond's father was a Special Ranger in Corpus Ctisti, Texas. Raymond was not married. He stood 5ft. 8in. tall, had blue eyes, light hair and a light complexion. He had lived with his family in Mexico for a good many years. He was a jailer in Corpus Christi in 1913, before becoming a Ranger. As a Peace Officer, he enlisted at Harlington, Cameron County, Texas, as a REGULAR RANGER from October 22, 1915 until December 6, 1915, as a private in Co. D. He served less than two months time and was discharged. I did not find the reason for his discharge. In March of 1916, Raymond was a Nueces County deputy sheriff. He and constable Pat Freely got into a shooting scrape and Raymond killed Pat on March 25, 1917. Raymond Bellamy died January 21, 1966 in Liberty County, Texas. He was buried in the San Jacinto Memorial Park, Houston, Harris County, Tx.
