Funeral services for Audrey Mae Byrd, 95, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Keneda officiating.

Audrey Mae Byrd was born in Lookeba, Oklahoma, on April 24, 1918 the daughter of Ray Patrick and Mary Loula Patrick. She died Friday, September 13, 2013 in Chickasha.

Audrey grew up and graduated high school from Lookeba. After graduation she attended the business college in Anadarko, receiving her Associates Degree in Business.

On December 25, 1938, she married Jasper Byrd in Lookeba, Oklahoma.

After getting married they moved to Santa Monica, California for a short time, returning back to Oklahoma in 1943. In 1952 they made their home in Chickasha.

Audrey was employed as a phone operator and later as a research assistant at OSU Cotton Research Station just east of Chickasha where she worked for over twenty years before retiring.

She enjoyed many things: painting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, traveling and making all kinds of crafts. She was always actively doing something. Audrey never stood still long enough to let the grass grow under her feet.

She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Jack Byrd, brother Robert Patrick and daughter in law Kay Byrd.

Survivors include: two sons Glen Byrd of Norman, Oklahoma, Robert Byrd and wife Teri of Del Norte, Colorado, daughter Sheila Ohl and husband Wallis of Norman, Oklahoma, brother Pat Patrick of Bella Vista, Arkansas; grandchildren: Bart and Brett Byrd, Trey and Greg Ohl, Courteney Ohl Gill and Ashley Owens and nine great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
