Sylvia Rude, age 87, of McVille, ND, formerly Tolna, ND, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND.
Sylvia was born September 13, 1925 at home near Devils Lake, ND to Matt and Signe (Elgin) Moen. She was baptized at Norway Lutheran Church near Devils Lake on November 25, 1925 by Reverend K.O. Raftshed. Sylvia was confirmed at Norway Church on November 5, 1939. She worked at various rest homes in Devils Lake until her marriage to Justin Rude on November 22, 1947 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Devils Lake by Rev. E. L. Rude. After their marriage the couple farmed near Hamar, ND. Justin passed away April 25, 2010 .
Sylvia will be missed and remembered by her 3 sons, Glenn Rude of Tolna, ND; Duane Rude of Tolna, ND, and Marlin (Lori Swenson and sons Michael and Steven) Rude of Devils Lake, ND; 2 grandchildren, Andy Rude of Hazen, ND and Samantha Rude of Devils Lake, ND; 2 step grandchildren, Deena of Garden City, KS and Michael of Norfolk, NE; great grand daughter Alana; 3 sisters, Arlene, Doris and Verna; 3 Brothers, Arnold, Donald and Vern; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Justin; sisters, Millie and Selma; and brother Melvin.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Sigdal Church Cemetery.
