Perley Alexander Hill died at age 90. He lived at 875 Downington Ave. (1800) South. Perley was the son of Archibald Newell Hill from Scotland and Caroline Graham Hill from Irish immigrants,who settled in South Carolina.
When a young man he worked at his mother's dry good store.
Perley married Edith Hodges on 22 Nov. 1889. Perley was a land-scape gardner, and designed and keeped the grounds at the Stake Capital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He re-land scaped the city cemetery, and land scaped the famous monument (This is the Place).Perely also landscaped a few country clubs in the State of Utah. Perely introduced bent grass to many of the golf courses in the valley. Perley also was a barber through out his life, and was a member of the state board of examiners of barbers, he was the secatary. Perely was also an active member of the Demecratic Party, and was the city sexton . Perley and Edith had five children, four boys and one daughter. Roland Perley Hill married Vivian Rosenlof, she died in 1923.Then Roland married Genevieve Garbett Horsley Hill, Lynne Augustus Hill married Cecelia O'Mara, J Howard Hill married Ester Eugene Johnson, Beatrice Hill married Harold Nation, Gordon Eugene Hill married Netty Jean Brown Jensen. Perely never wasted a day.He seen and experienced many wonferful things in his day.
