Percy Cardwell was a city clerk in San Antonio, Texas. Percy enlisted in the Texas Ranger Force on June 18, 1917 thru April 15, 1919 as a Private in Company C. He was promoted to Sergeant, Asst. Quartermaster, in the Ranger Force on November 12, 1917; he applied for a transfer to Company G as a Sergeant, August 22, 1918; transferred to Company G as a Sergeant, August 31, 1918. He then resigned on March 24, 1919, effective April 15, 1919, because he had been passed over for promotion to Quartermaster Captain.
