Janice E. Mezera, age 75, of McFarland and formerly of Prairie du Chien, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Harmony Living Center in McFarland.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at the St. Gabriel's Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien. Memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice Care in Madison in her memory. The Garrity Funeral Home of Prairie du Chien is assisting the family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at St. Gabriel's Church of the Holy Family Parish in Prairie du Chien, with Rev. James Weighner officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Janice Elaine Schneider was born December 20, 1937, in West Liberty, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Evelyn (Burhop) Schneider. She attended West Liberty High School. She married Thomas Martin on November 22, 1952, in West Liberty, Iowa, and were later divorced. She married Edward James Mezera on June 25, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they owned and operated the Marina Beach Resort in Prairie du Chien for over 30 years. Edward preceded her in death on August 10, 2010. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Church, where she sang in the choir.
Surviving are four daughters, Cathy Fitzhugh and Kay (Doug) Hayes, both of Baltimore, MD, Wanda (James) Condoluci of Minneapolis, MN, and Audrey Jones of McFarland, WI; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Richard) Lund of Iowa City, IA and Jeanne (Francis) Vargas of Chicago, IL; and one brother, Doug (Nancy) Schneider of Ely, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
