Nancy Janes Ayres was the eldest of seven children born to John and Susannah Ayres.
She was born in Vanange County, Pennsylvania, January 1, 1854 and passed away at the family home in the Glenwood community, near Palmer, on the morning of April 12, 1934, age 80 years, 3 months and 12 days.
When but a baby, she came with her parents to Cedar County, Iowa. At the age of 12 she joined the Church of God. She was educated in that part of Iowa and taught school in that community until she was 25 years of age.
On November 13, 1879 she was united in marriage to John Frederick Forbes. In the year 1884, February 14th, they moved to a farm near Palmer, Nebraska where they resided until her death. Mr. and Mrs. Forbes were early settlers in this community, where they prospered in farming and stock raising on their beautiful and fertile Loup river valley farm.
To this union were born six children: Elda, Justa, Frank, Guy, Leta, and Ray. Elda, Guy, Leta and Ray preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn, her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Justa Lamberson, one son Frank; one sister, Mrs. Walter Macklam; one brother Gus Ayres, five grand daughters; five grand sons and three great-grandchildren.
This family has the sympathy of a large community of friends and many more from more distant points for the loss of this good wife, mother and grandmother.
