American Rapper, Songwriter. Born Eric Lynn Wright, he was better known by his stage name Eazy-E, who performed solo and in the hip-hop group N.W.A. After dropping out of high school in the tenth grade, he supported himself primarily by selling drugs. In 1983, he co-founded the record company, Ruthless Records, whose artists went on to include Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. The trio formed N.W.A. along with DJ Yella, MC Ren and Arabian Night and 1987 released "N.W.A. and the Posse". In 1988, Wright released his solo debut album, "Eazy-Duz-It" prior to the release that same year of N.W.A.'s controversial album, "Straight Outta Compton". The group went on to release two more albums before they disbanded in 1991 and Eazy E went on to release 3 more solo albums from 1992 through 1995. In February of 1995, Wright, who is often referred to as "The Godfather of Gangsta Rap", was admitted into a Los Angeles hospital with what was believed to be asthma, but was instead diagnosed with full-blown AIDS and died almost one month later. Since his passing, two more albums were released and several books and video biographies have been written and produced about him, including 2002's 'The Day Eazy-E Died'.
