Graveside services for Albert O. Smith, 75, former Amherst resident, were held Tuesday afternoon at Crownhill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith died of a heart attack last Tuesday evening at his late home in Cleveland. Since he lived alone, no one knew of his passing until a paper boy stopped Saturday morning.
He was born and raised in Amherst, being the son of H. C. Smith who operated a jewelry store for over 50 years. It was located on South Main at the present site of Mary Edwards Beauty Shop.
With the Rev. Emerson Emke of the Congregational Church conducting the services.
He graduated from Amherst High School, but had spent the last 20 years in Cleveland.
He was a retired supervisor of the Wagner Awning Company there.
Surviving are his son, William A. Smith, and three grandchildren. The son, also graduated from Amherst, and is now Superintendent of School in Pomeray.
