James E. VanTassell, 71, of Churchill Ave., Syracuse, formally of Baldwinsville, died July 19, 2002. He was born in Syracuse, he retired in 1986 after 33 years with Allied Chemical. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. A son, Theodore J., died in 2001. Surviving are his wife, Shirley A.; 2 daughters, Theresa L. Mallore of North Syracuse, and Delores Sposato of Cicero; a brother, Richard of Baldwinsville; and 3 grandchildren. Services were held at Gates Funeral Home. Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours were held at the funeral home, 29 West Genesee St., Baldwinsville.
