After three years of struggling through three accumulatively degrading strokes, on February 1, 2003 Kathleen suffered a massive stroke that left her terminal. She departed this world on February 15, 2003 and joined her Heavenly Father and His Choir of Angels, as she had always planned. From the age of eleven Kay became a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ, followed by many years of mutual love and His guiding Grace.

Kay and Bob were married for over 60 years. During the early 16 years, Kay gave birth to three girls and four boys. A huge labor intensive, child rearing, work load ensued, that lasted for over 30 years. Never recognizing how hard she worked, compared to the availability of todays high tech, labor saving, home making tools.
Where ever Bob's career (geographically) evolved, Kay and the brood relocated like pros. It was always just another adventure to enjoy.

Kay's earthly absence leaves an enormous vacuum in the surviving family structure; including her husband Bob, her three daughters, Pam, Barbara and Roberta; and her four sons, Donald, David, Dale and Douglas, as well as their loving spouses. Kay also leaves nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Kathleen has been a resident of Sedona for fifteen years, where she continued to share her vocal musical talent in both Christian and secular format. Kay served in three church choirs and two secular chorales in Sedona.

Kay was a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Los Angeles; majoring in Choral and Orchestral Directing, Composition, Hymnology and Christial Music History.

As a young teenager, Kay began her classical-bel canto vocal training in Los Angeles, with a focus on the world of opera. Over the next 64 years Kay re-focused her musical career to classical Christian and Secular music. She has contributed her solos, chorales, directing and teaching expertise, throughout seven states, thirteen major cities, and 17 home churches. She has performed at the professional level many times including such works as alto and soprano leads in Handle's Messiah, and du Boix's Seven Last Words. In Mendelssohn's Elijah, Kay has sung in the choir, carried the solo lead, and at other times directed. She has directed her 50 voice church choir, a 20 piece symphony orchestra,(+ a 87 rank Organ) in a formal performance of Messiah.

Over the years, concurrently with her church responsibilities, Kay was a member of Civic Choral Groups such as; The Burbank Choral Club, Northrop Choral Club, the El Camino-USC Choral Association, The Roger Wagoner Master Chorale, The Los Conceniros, The Navy Choir, The Fairfax Virginia Civic Chorus, The Verde Valley Chorale, and the Sedonaires. With numerous performances in churches and concert halls across the entire width of the United States.

Kay has performed under the direction of such notables as Roger Wagoner, Bob Grayson(N.Y. Opera Co), Sir Adrian Bolt (London Philharmonic) Jester Harriston, Victor Boggis (Warner Brothers Symphony Orchestra) and Bob Mitchell of Washington, D.C.

Kay was a member of the Washington D.C. Oratorio Society and the Los Angeles Oratorio Society for many years. She had performed in the Washington National Cathedral, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and a Christmas Performance on the White House Lawn. As well as the Los Angeles Philharmonic Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

Secular Musical performances in Opera and Operettas included , in part; Carmen, La Boheim, el Pagliccia, The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance, Polovitzian Dances, Show Boat, Naughty Marietta, and New Moon. Kay and Bob frequently entertained in concert and at large dinner parties, with their love song duets from the golden days of Operettas.

During early retirement, Kay found time aboard her open ocean cruising sail boat home ''Acappella'' to become the navigator and communications specialist as well as meticulously exercising her special home making skills and standards. Eight adventure filled years ( a hurricane and becalmed), over 15,000 accident free nautical miles, blessed beyond measure.

Kay's funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. February 24th at the Westcott Funeral Home 1013 E. Mingus Avenue in Cottonwood, AZ. Pastor Tom Bush, Joe Barclay, Gladys Reed and Roberta Cencini will conduct the service.
