He retired from Cannon Mills where he had been a foreman in the weave room and card room. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Div. during the Korean War. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member of the Golden Nuggets Sunday school class and a Sunday school teacher. He loved reading, farming, and listening to the Bible Broadcasting Network(BBN).
He is survived by his wife, Helen Verlene Funderburk; his son Keith Funderburk of Kannapolis; his three daughters, Levonda Morgan and husband, James, of Salisbury, Denita Bresett and husband, Ron, of Kannapolis, and Donna Fischbach and husband, Phil, of Nichols, SC.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Sadie Wagner of Kannapolis; and his brother, Bill Funderburk of Rockwell.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim McQueen and Rev. Phil Fischbach. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
