Everett M. Turner Jr., 70, of Riggston, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2013, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born Aug. 12, 1943, in White Hall, the son of the late Everett M. and Beatrice Coe Turner.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Joyce White of Lynnville; two sons, Marty (wife, Jeanne) Turner of White Hall and Todd Turner of Hettick; one daughter, Rhonda Carter of Jerseyville; two granddaughters, Alma and Kallie Turner; one stepgrandson, Bryce Cook; four brothers, James Archie (wife, Sarah) Turner of Waverly and Travis Baptist, Harold (Mary) Turner and Marvin (wife, Phyllis) Turner, all of Jacksonville; and six sisters, Evalee (husband, Willard) Bohlmann of Rushville, Paulette Irene Holmes of Jerseyville, Eleanor "Dodie" (husband, Jerry) Jumper of Jacksonville, Martha (husband, Lyndell) Phillips of Murrayville, Mary (husband, Hugh) Jumper of Chatham and Coe Ann (husband, Jerry Sr.) Churchill of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Turner (surviving wife, Kathy of Jacksonville)

Mr. Turner had farmed and worked in construction for many years in the area and also managed a fertilizer plant in Pisgah for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Okinawa. He had attended Gates To Glory near Murrayville. He enjoyed restoring old vehicles, going to auctions, yard sales and the country opry. He was always helping others and will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to his granddaughters' education fund. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
