Lonnie Lee "Bill" Watkins, 82, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Dothan and Sugar Grove, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 9, 2013 at Beckley VAMC. Mr. Watkins loved his family; he also enjoyed traveling, auto mechanics, and Nascar, and especially enjoyed a good laugh. Mr. Watkins was a US Army Master Sargent Retired, with 24 years of service to his country. Following his Military retirement Mr. Watkins worked the next 20 years at the Reagan National Airport. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Charles Town, WV, and he was of the Baptist Faith.

Born July 3, 1931 he was the son of the late Ambrose “Frog” Watkins (1910-1976) and Bernice Toney-Watkins (1910-Deceased). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty J. Flanagan-Watkins (1932-2009) whom he married on December 19, 1952 in Oak Hill, Fayette County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Fayette County, WV, 1952, Page 198, Line 10, Application Date: December 17, 1952); three brothers, Charles Watkins (Deceased), Robert Watkins (Deceased), and Joseph Watkins (Deceased); one sister, Charlene Watkins (Deceased).

Survivors include two daughters, Myra Susan "Susie" Watkins of Charleston, WV and Michelle Watkins-Griffith & husband Jeff Griffin of Cool Ridge, WV; two sons, James Watkins & wife Sandra Watkins of Shepherdstown, WV and Micheal Watkins & wife Linda Watkins of Kearneysville, WV; one sister Ida Mae Watkins-Williams of Scarbro, WV; five grandchildren, Emily Lord Watkins-Kern of Cambridge, England, Noah Watkins of Frederick, MD, Trista Watkins of Maysville, WV, Ashley Watkins of Charleston, WV, and Nicole Griffith of Cool Ridge, WV; five great-grandchildren, Elyssa Kimple Watkins, Peyton Longerbeam, Elyah Leslie, William Cook, and Lonnie Cook.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley, WV with Chaplin Mark Lobst, and Chaplin Paul Bricker officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, WV where the American Legion Post 32 Honor Guard will have Military graveside rites.
