Bennie Myers, 74, of Treynor, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Ben was born to Ralph and Anna (Ketchum) Myers on October, 2 1938 in Whiting, Iowa. He graduated from Whiting High School with the class of 1957 and went to work for Northwestern Bell. Bennie answered his country's calling shortly thereafter, enlisting in the United States Army where he served from 1958 to 1961. His service included one year in South Korea. After his military service, he returned home to work with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he was faithfully employed from 1957 to 1987. He retired with 30 years of service to the communications industry. After retirement, he also worked for Inacom and Kure Associates, finally retiring for a second time from OK Electric of Omaha in 2005.

Ben married Marie Nelsen of Audubon on December 14, 1963, and they relocated to Papillion, Nebraska. They welcomed son, Jay, in 1965, and daughter, Janelle, in 1973. Ben and Marie lived in Papillion from 1963 - 1977 where he attended Trinity Lutheran Church, coached Little League Baseball and was an Indian Guide Leader for son, Jay. From 1977-1978, the family resided in Carson, Iowa. In 1978, the family moved to Treynor, Iowa, where they reside today.

Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty years, Marie, as well as a brother, Merlin, of Blair, NE and sister, Joyce (Barney) Harding, of Turin, IA. He is also survived by his son, Jay, and wife, Sally, of Treynor and daughter, Janelle, and husband, Todd Revier, of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren, Gracie (17) and Emma (15) Myers, of Treynor, Jack (16), Leslie (14), Adrienne and Victoria (8) Revier, of Sioux Falls.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ralph and Anna Myers, brothers, Chuck and Russ, sister, Marylin Harris, and a niece, Jan Myers.

Ben enjoyed spending time in his yard nurturing his plants and flowers. He could grow anything the "plant store" had to offer. He made growing elephant ears and apple gourds look easy. Ben often made day-trips with Marie antiquing, where he'd sneak an occasional addition to his clown collection. Whenever possible they met daughter, Janelle, and family for a fun outing. He loved taking pictures, especially of his grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved attending their many events whether it be dancing or sports.
