Prominent Indianapolis Physician. He helped found the Indianapolis Medical College. When the Civil War began, Indiana Governor Oliver P. Morton appointed Dr. Kitchen along with Dr. Patrick H. Jameson to be doctors at all military camps in Indianapolis, including the prisoner of war center Camp Morton. His mausoleum was constructed in 1866 and sealed in the late 1960s.
