He was born March 23, 1941, in Union County to James E. Buckman Sr. and Martha Davis Buckman. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. He was the owner of Kellous Oil Co. James played basketball for St. Vincents Academy and Holy Name. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats, working crossword puzzles and feeding his fish in his fish pond. His favorite hangout place was the Cairo Store.
He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Buckman Sr.; and two brothers, Steve Buckman and Billy Ray Buckman.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Claudia Buckman; his mother, Martha Buckman of Henderson; six children, Jeff Buckman and Lori Hansen, both of Henderson, Joni Clausen of Pinellas Park, Fla., Kevin Wilke and his wife, Janice, and Jamie Wilke and his wife, Selena, both of Henderson, and Tim Buckman and his wife, Lorrie, of Corydon; two brothers, Jack Buckman and his wife, Trudy, and Kenny Buckman, both of Henderson; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be at noon Friday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father J. Edward Bradley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
