KING, Lauren H. "Larry" of Saginaw, MI passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. He was 86 years old. Lauren H. King was born in Saginaw on March 7, 1925 to the late Daniel and Nina King. He met the love of his life, Donna Marilyn Smith, while enjoying music and dancing the Jitterbug. They married on August 21, 1948 and she survives him. Larry worked for Wicks ConAgra as a Transportation Specialist for over 25 years. After his retirement, Larry helped his son, Rich, in Quality Assurance at Stanley Steemer. He was a member of the Kiwanis; serving as a mentor for young people and assisting in their scholarship program. Larry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered as an usher at the Temple and Heritage Theatres. Larry and Donna traveled together throughout Europe including: Venice, Italy, Belgium, France, and the place where the Sound of Music was filmed. He enjoyed bowling and golf, playing for 52 years on the same golf league. Larry was an avid skier until he was 79 years old and a member of the 70+ Group. Larry is survived by his wife Donna; and their children: Richard (Robin) King, Marc (Wendy) King and Cynthia (Doug) Harbert; grandchildren: Brandon (Erica), Amanda, Austin, Chance, Brittany, Cory, Cooper and Beckam; and his life long friend: Don Campbell. MEMORIAL SERVICE: A memorial service for Larry will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) Chaplain Gail Crachiola will officiate. Burial will be held privately in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
