He held a judgeship in the Court of Common Pleas for several years. He was first married to Patience Turner, dau. of Dr John Turner, April 9, 1795. She died July 12, 1801 at 36. He married second Ann Reynolds, dau of Joseph Reynolds of Bristol, May 16, 1802. John had 9 children, 4 by Patience and 5 by Ann - see p. 154 of Ira peck's 1868 Peck genealogy.
