Erika "Freya" Mariik Thixton-Gasser was born in California, on October 12, 1958, to Marilynn and Jim Thixton.

Born into a navy family, she grew up traveling throughout the United States and abroad with her brothers, Erik and Lek, and sister, Bridget.

Freya graduated early from Bellevue High School and went on to graduate cum lauda with a Bachelor of Art degree in English from the University of Washington, earning a Phi Beta Kappa key.

She was currently enrolled at the U.W., in a Masters of Education program while doing her student teaching at Forest Park School.

She is loved and sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Rudy Gasser, whom she met while working at Boeing as an expeditor; son, Samuel; daughter, Ines; her father, her mother, Marilynn Burns; and brothers and sister.

Memorial was held Monday, February 13, at the United House of Prayer for All People, 2801 S. Walden Street, Seattle, WA 98144. Burial at Abbey View Memorial Park after the service. Freya would have wanted any remembrances to go to college trusts for the two children.
