LEWISVILLE. Double funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Z. Petry and her daughter, Miss Bernice Clementine Petry, who drowned when an automobile in which they were riding plunged into the Columbia River at Wenatchee. Wash., Aug. 7, will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. The services will be in the Lewisville Methodist church, with Rev. A. F. Byrne officiating. Interment will be in the East Germantown cemetery. The bodies, which are to arrive in New Castle Saturday afternoon, will lie in state at the church one hour before the services. Friends may call at the Stanley Funeral home, New Castle, after 7 m. Saturday. Mrs. Petry, 57 years old, and her daughter, Miss Bernice Clementina, 35, were on a vacation trip to Washington when the tragedy occurred. Two others in the car when it plunged off a ferry boat, also were drowned. They were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar R. Wiker of Mason, Wash. The body of Mr. Wiker has been recovered but the body of Mrs. Wiker is missing. Frederick Petry, a son of Mrs. Petry, also riding in the car, was rescued from the River. Mrs. Petry, who resided near here, is survived by her husband, Harvey C. Petry; five sons, Verlin H. of Indianapolis; Clinton E., Knightstown; Frederick E., at home; Wilmer L., Lewisville; and Malcolm E., at home; three daughters, Mrs. Naomi Lyons, North Manchester, Mrs. Reba Wallace, New Castle, and Wilma E., at home; one brother, Arthur A. Wiker, Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Elva Scott, Cincinnati, and 10 grandchildren. Miss Petry is survived by her father, five brothers and three sisters. She was employed by the Crosley corporation.
