WIERZBA, MARY ROSE SILVANI; passed away peacefully on June 17, 2013; at age 98. Her second oldest daughter, Janice, and her own youngest sister, Betty Coogan were at her side. Mary was born on Kelly's Island, in Ohio, to Italian immigrants, and moved to Oakwood when she was 11. She met and then married Stanley at age 18, and moved to Wyandotte, where she permanently resided on Oak Street. They were married for 58 years, until his passing in 1993. Besides working various and numerous jobs to make ends meet, Mary and Stan became Dance Instructors and taught ballroom dancing for over 50 years. They actually met at the Hollywood Ballroom in Detroit, and both shared a passion for the dance floor! They entered various competition dance events in and around the Detroit area, and decided to share what they knew with others. Mary was affiliated with and taught dancing at various venues such as Daughters of Isabella, Moose Lodge, PRCU, Downriver Italian Club, and the Belles and Beaus, to name a few. In working with church organizations, she would always donate half of what she made to their cause. Their own residence on Oak also served as a private dance studio! After her husband's passing, the teaching intensified, and you might say she got lost in her work. She has been honored for her dedication at numerous dance events in the Downriver area, and sold tickets for them as well. Busy as she was, family always came first! Mary and Stan had 4 children. The eldest was Judy (deceased), Janice, Joyce, and Jimmy. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Her eloquence, style, and grace on the dance floor is unsurpassed, and will not be soon forgotten. She was the ultimate lady, always respected and humble. Her mantra was to 'have fun' with life, and on the dance floor. Funeral Services were held Saturday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Arrangements made by Czopek Funeral Directors (734) 285-9000. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/heritage/obituary.aspx?n=mary-rose-silvani-wierzba&pid=165419165&fhid=3235#fbLoggedOut
