Frank Samuel Stone was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, on October 13, 1900, the oldest child of Lavinia (McComas) and Fred Harvey Stone. At the time of his death his rating was a lieutenant in the U. S. Naval Reserve.

He was educated in the Alamogordo schools, and after leaving school he went to sea, a vocation he had followed continuously since. Frank had intelligence above the average mortal. He was a brilliant mechanical engineer and mathematician.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frank S. Stone, of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Paul Harvey Stone of Alamogordo, also now in the U.S. Navy; and his sisters, Hazel (Stone) Wildes, of Arcadia, CA; and Hattie Morton, of Avalon, CA.
