Phyllis Griffith, age 66, of Wardell, Virginia, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. Born April 20, 1947 in Richlands, Virginia she was the daughter of Bailey L. White of Tazewell, Virginia and the late Mary Elizabeth White West.
She was a longtime member of New Hope Assembly of Claypool Hill, Virginia where she was the main piano player.
In addition to her father she is survived by her husband, Jay T. (Buddy) Griffith; one daughter, Toni Campbell and husband Robert of Nickelsville, VA; one son, Eddie Griffith and wife Cindy of Claypool Hill, VA; one sister, Debbie Peak of Claypool Hill, VA; two half-sisters, Tammy Dye and husband Mike of Cedar Bluff, VA and Patty White of Cedar Bluff, VA; four grandchildren, Seth Street, Chance Griffith, Kara Griffith and Jaycee Griffith; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at New Hope Assembly at Claypool Hill, Virginia with Rev. David Horton and Rev. Claudie Throgmartin officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jack Brown, Mike Bales, Kenneth Street, Louis Peak, Chance Griffith, Robert Campbell, and Seth Street. Honorary pallbearers will be members of New Hope Assembly.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at New Hope Assembly at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
