James W. Stockdale Sr., 87, died on Friday, September 6, 2013 in a local hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae Bell Beavers Woods and Wallace Stockdale.
He was a member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Mueller Company, Erlanger Hospital and Orchard Knob Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Emily Stockdale; daughters, Letitia Stockdale-Tatum, Lithonia, GA, Angela Smith, Rhonda Bell, Audrey Stockdale, all of Chattanooga, TN; sons, James Stockdale, Jr., Chattanooga, TN, Donald (Raquel) Smith, Jarmine (Laurn) Knox, both of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Brandon Tatum, Cameron Tatum, Terrious Smith, Angelica Smith, LaDeja Knox, King Knox, Jr., Demetrius Hampton, Leah Smith, Jevon Tatum, Jalen Tatum ; siblings, Addie Elston, Brice Stockdale, Fannie Colvin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at noon at Orchard Knob M.B. Church.
Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after 12 noon on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, Chattanooga, TN.
