Morning Journal, The (Lorain, OH) - Tuesday, May 14, 2002;
LORAIN -- Janet 'Nettie' Brackett (nee Mollison), 85, of Lorain, died Sunday, May 12, 2002, at Golden Acres Nursing Home, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Lorain, and remained a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1934-B and studied secretarial sciences at Elyria Business College.

Mrs. Brackett was church secretary of First United Presbyterian Church, Lorain, for 35 years. She was employed as a secretary at Thew Shovel Co., Lorain, from 1931 to 1941 and was employed at the Lorain License Bureau from 1973 to 1976.

She was a lifelong member of First United Presbyterian Church, Lorain, served as secretary of Ruth Circle and volunteered in the church's food co-op and nursing home visitation program. Mrs. Brackett enjoyed her Scottish heritage and was a member of Daughters of Scotia Lady Gordon Lodge 99, Lorain, and Attie Lauder Lodge 177, Akron, serving as a grand chief daughter and secretary. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Women's Association and was a member of Al-Anon since 1965.

She served as an election poll worker for more than 50 years for the Lorain County Board of Elections.

Survivors include her daughters Nancy I. Miller and Joyce E. Brackett, both of Lorain; and three grandchildren, two great-grandsons, one nephew and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton I. Brackett, in 1988; her parents, George and Isabella (nee Low) Mollison; brothers Sinclair and James Mollison; and one granddaughter.

Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st St., Lorain. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, 1897 E. 30th St., Lorain. The Rev. Roy F. Schutz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
