Lifelong resident Of Community Dies
Mrs. Gertrude Wardwell, 40, the wife of Harold Wardwell residing four miles north and one-half mile east of the city, died at 4:20 o'clock this morning at Mercy hospital. Mrs. Wardwell was taken to the hospital Sunday morning, where death was caused by a cerebral hemorrhage, following the birth of a daughter. The child is living and is being cared for at the hospital. Mrs. Wardwell was a member of the East Main Street Christian Church. The daughter of Arr and Cora Bagley, Mrs. Wardwell was born in this community on May 27, 1903. She was united in marriage on July 3, 1922 to Harold Wardwell and nine children were born to this union, eight of whom survive. Surviving are the husband, and eight children. Charlotte, Donna, Cora, Jane, Corabelle, Howard, Charles and Bobby, all it home. A sister, Mrs. Mildred Wimer, of this city, also survives. The body was removed to the Robert Jackley funeral home, and will be returned to the residence Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the East Main Street Christian church, with Rev. V. Hayes Miller, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. D. D. McColl, pastor. Burial will be made in the City cemetery.
