2nd Baron Chelmsford. British General, Zulu War. Lord Chelmsford was in command of the British forces during the invasion of Zululand in 1879. His forces suffered a staggering defeat at Isandhlwana, but he went on to conquer the Zulus. He died suddenly while playing billiards after his retirement.
