Frederick B. King, 73, of Epping NH, died July 24, 2002, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood NH after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born June 20, 1929, in Greenville ME, the son of Raymond and Ida (Trembley) King.

He graduated from Washington State Teachers College in Machias ME with a bachelor of science degree and earned his master's degree in education from the University of Maine in Orono. Mr. King served as superintendent of schools, District No. 54, Skowhegan ME, from 1983 until 1984; superintendent of schools, Administrative Unit No. 16, Exeter NH, from 1962 until 1974; and assistant superintendent of schools, Windham ME, from 1958 until 1962. He served as an elementary supervisor, principal, and elementary teacher in several Maine schools from 1949 until 1958; and as an instructor at the University of New Hampshire for 10 years. He last served as president of the Better Business Bureau of the Granite State in Concord.

He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He served as state president of the New Hampshire Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development; the New England Executive Board and the National Board of Directors, A.S.C.D. He served on the Exeter Health Task Force; the State of New Hampshire Comprehensive Health Committee; as a consultant on the Educational Television Curriculum Board, Durham; and as an instructor at the University of New Hampshire for 10 years.

Mr. King was president of the St. Joseph Parish Council, Epping and Raymond NH, and was a Eucharistic Minister; a member of A Thousand Men, Precious Blood Monastery, Manchester.

He leaves his wife of 23 years, Gemma Jean King of Epping.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, Route 27, Epping. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Epping.
