Esco Richmond, 82, of Grafton, died Sunday at Elyria Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He was born in Rock Creek, W.Va. and lived in Grafton since 1971.

He was formerly employed at Jones and Laughlin Steel, Cleveland, as a sheer operator, before retiring in 1970.

Mr. Richmond enjoyed gardening and ran a roadside stand at his home following his retirement.

He was an Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Janice (nee Jarrell), to whom he was married 57 years; a daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Patsy) Pettry of Grafton; two sons, Billy Joe of Berea, and Larry of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Alva Cottle of Arnett, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert, in 1973.

Visitation will be held at the Blackburn-Fulton Funeral Home, Grafton, Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Laughary, of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, Elyria, officiating.

Burial will be in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.
