James Dean Coon, 82, died August 12, 2012 in Sonoma County, California.

Jim was born December 17, 1929 in Huston, Idaho, to James A. and Gertrude H. Armfield Coon. Gertrude passed away in 1931. When Jim was 7, his father married Zola Louise Henderson who was an angel to the family.

Jim graduated from Caldwell High School in 1948 where he met his wife, Dewetta L. Annon. Jim and Dewetta married in 1948 and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary last November.

Jim started working in 1948 for Portland General Electric and retired from Western Power Products in 1989. Jim and Dewetta lived in Portland, Oregon, Hood River, Oregon, Yuma, Arizona, Keizer, Oregon, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Woodburn, Oregon, and finally in Rohnert Park, California.

Jim was always on the go, he worked hard, played hard, and kept family at the heart of his life. From putting up grab bars to pushing a stranded family's car, no one who needed help was a stranger to Jim.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, his sister, Hazel Cavanaugh, and his beloved hunting dog, Pam.

Jim is survived by his wife Dewetta, of Rohnert Park, CA; his son, Larry and Karen Coon, of Roatan, Honduras; his daughter, Susan Hollen and Tom DeMattia, of Rohnert Park, CA; his grandson, Tyler Coon, of Portland, OR; his great-grandson, Dakota Coon, of Sandy, OR; two sisters, Alta Dallons, of Penn Valley, CA, and Betty and Chuck Obendorf, of Soldotna, AK.

At Jim's request a service will be held in Caldwell, Idaho upon the passing of Dewetta.
