Richard Lee Choate Nov. 18, 1932 Sept. 1, 2005 Graveside services for Richard Lee Choate will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery (3700 River Blvd.) on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor David Goh will officiate. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Choate; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Tina Choate; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Shirley Choate; daughter, Jana Sheftel; grandchildren, Thomas Barter, Tera (Jamen) McKnight, Luke Coate, Nicole (Christian) Burgess; great-grandchildren, Morgan McKnight, Kelly Burgess and Travis Burgess; brother, Walter Choate as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Richard served his country in the Naval Air Corps during the Korean War Era. He also had a distinguished career as a Peace Officer in the California Highway Patrol and the Bakersfield Police Department. He loved the hills of the Tule River area as a hunter and fisherman. Richard was a loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend with a tough exterior hiding a soft heart of gold. He was loved by all that knew him and he will be greatly missed.
