OKOLONA – Fred Alvin Brasher, 67, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at his sister's residence in Okolona. Born March 9, 1946, in Alabama. He was a son of Charlie Fred and Rosie Lee Brasher. He was of the Baptist faith, and he attended school at the Shelby County Training School in Columbiana, Ala. He was a truck driver and farmer, and he loved working in his garden. He lived in the states of New York and Alabama for most of his adult life.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. today, Sept. 9, at Darden and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery. Darden and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his two sons, Frederick (Princess) Brasher of Gadsden, Ala. and Alfonzo Brasher of Buffalo, N.Y; one daughter, Angala Brasher of Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, Steve (Janice) Brasher of Wilsonville, Ala. and Walter Brasher of Gadsden, Ala.; two sisters, Judy Swain of Gadsden, Ala. and Vickie Brasher of Okolona; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Una Mae Jordan, Lurline Flambo and Annie Pearl Brasher; and four brothers, Wilson Brasher, Jermaine Brasher, Charles Brasher and Arthur E. Moss.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
