He was born on Jan. 30, 1924 in Canton, a son of January Sr. and Mable VanAlstyne Perry. He attended Pyrites and Canton schools.

He married Marjorie Brooks on June 21, 1942 in St. Mary's rectory.

He joined the Army on Feb. 26, 1943, serving in the European Theater, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was discharged on Nov. 24, 1945.

He was employed by Edson J. Martin, a wholesale beer distributor, from 1945 to 1967. He then worked at Canton ATC as senior storeroom clerk, retiring Dec. 30, 1987.

Surviving was his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Keitha) Palmer, Ogdensburg; Mrs. Richard (Mabel) Baxter, Hermon and Mrs. Brian (Deborah) Lawrence, Canton; three brothers, January Perry Jr.; Lee Perry and Glenn McCarthy, and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Paro, Canton.

A sister, Mrs. Coral Blackburn, and two brothers, Theodore and Kenneth, died before him.
