Martha was the sixth of eight children born to William Penn (1762-1846) and Martha Amos (Slade) Penn (1785-1883).

Real Daughter, Daughters of the American Revolution married Russell J. BROWN, Wright Murphy CARTER, Robert Y. RODGERS.

Martha appears to have been married several times.

Wright Murphy Carter is buried in Orlando. I am not sure what happened to this marriage, it looks like they were divorced or separated.

In the 1880 Jasper County Census, Wright M. Carter appears with his wife Martha, this is Martha Penn, and Wright daughter Mary Lou Carter, Mary was his daughter by his second wife, Martha Penn was at least his third wife...may have been more. In the 1900 Census, Wright M. Carter is living in the household of his daughter Mary Lou Carter and her husband Frank L. Helms in Orlando, Orange Co. Florida. According to this memorial, Martha was still living at this time.

In the marriage record of Wright M. Carter and Martha Penn, she is listed as Martha E. Brown. They were married April 27, 1876 in Jasper Co. Georgia. I would be interested to know what happened to this marriage.
