Matthew James Potter, 41, of Canton, Mich. died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
He was born February 27, 1970 in Ann Arbor, Mich., the son of James and Barbara (Oliver) Potter. He graduated from John Glenn High School in Westland, Mich. in 1988.
Following graduation he spent several years in Florida working in landscaping. He
moved back to Michigan and worked in the construction industry. A Detroit Tigers fan, he played baseball in high school and enjoyed watching baseball games.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brother and spending time with his friends.
Mr. Potter is survived by one daughter, Amanda LynnPotter of Garden City, Mich.;
one son, Joshua Matthew Potter of Taylor, Mich.; his parents, James and Barbara
Potter of Harrisville; one brother, Martin (Julie) Potter of White Lake, Mich.; two
nieces, Angel and Hilda Potter; one nephew, Edgar Potter; his grandparents,
Norman and Wilma Oliver of Lincoln and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mia Potter in 2008; and his grandparents,
Bonnie and Forrest Potter. The funeral was held July 11, at Gillies Funeral Home.
Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alcona
County Food Bank, organized by the United Methodist Church in Harrisville or Gift
of Life Foundation, 2203 Platt Road, Ann Arbor, Mich. 48104-9836.
