Walter Benjamen Hale
SAVANNAH - Walter Benjamen Hale, 92, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Buckingham South.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Henry Hale; his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Walter was born and raised in Summit, GA and attended local schools.

He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during World War II.

Following his discharged in 1945, he moved to Savannah. In March of 1950, he married the love of his life, Lorene Woodard.

Walter retired in the early 1980's as manager from the City Contract Bus Co.

He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Temple and the Sunday School at the church. He was an avid gardener.

Walter was a devoted and loving husband father and grandfather

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lorene Woodard Hale of Savannah; a son, Walter B. Hale, JR, (Karen): two sisters, Joan Hale Sagan and Julia Hale Swindell all of Savannah, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service: 2:00p.m. , Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Forest Lawn Memory Garden with Rev. Kenny Grant, pastor of Calvary Baptist Temple will officiate.

Memorial Contributions: Meal of Wheels or Hospice Savannah.
