Sara Jean worked in communications at AT&T/ Southern Bell. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Greensburg and a former Sunday school teacher, past regent of D.A.R., Greensburg Department Club, Red Hat Ladies Society, Decatur County Historical Society, National Society Magna Charta Dames, Member of Most Noble Order of the Garter, and Tri Kappa.
Sara Jean enjoyed many good times with her best friend, Katherine Storie. Their shopping trips held many wonderful memories for both.
She is survived by her daughter Kathryn (Stephen) Woodruff of Greensburg and her son Stephen (Michele) Compton of Jeffersonville, a niece, and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother John F. "Ted" Mitchell.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 10AM until the time of the funeral service beginning at 12PM all at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home.
