MUNCIE--Mabel V. King, 93, died Sunday at her daughter's home in Muncie. She was born in Portland, IN, the daughter of Cora (Fetter) and Edward Bell. Mrs. King received a scholarship and graduated from South Bend Riley High School, South Bend, IN, in 1931. She worked in the Dunkirk area where she met and married Kenneth K. King on April 16, 1933.

She and Kenneth moved to Muncie and built their home on Ivy Street in 1949. They were married for 43 years. Mrs. King was a 50+ year member, Sunday school teacher, and president of the Normal City United Methodist Church Women's Missionary Group.

Her hobbies were attending sporting events, entertaining family and friends, playing games, sewing and traveling.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally Wetzel of Muncie; brother, Kenneth Bell of Coldwater, MI; son-in-law, David Conlon of Muncie; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Cummings King of Muncie, and Barbara LaRue King of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Janel Wetzel, John Wetzel, Kelli Conlon, Kami McPhee, Kristi Aspeslet, Kati Andrews, Kasey Conlon, Mark King, Matt King, and Amy Sinha; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Blanche Ledbetter and Margaret Shumaker; two brothers, John Bell and Charles Bell; two daughters, Sharon King and Deborah Conlon; one son, Keith King; and best friends, Louise and Murray Shannon.

Celebration of her life will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Normal City Church, 1711 W. Jackson St., with Pastor Don Miller officiating. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Normal City U.M. Church or any charity of your choice.
