Services for James O. Berry, Sr., 89, of Clawson, will be held in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lawrence Thompson officiating. Masonic services will be under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M. Graveside services will follow in the Gann Cemetery with military honors by the United States Air Force.

Mr. Berry was born December 17, 1923 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Myrtle M. (Frost) and Huey B. Berry. He passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Berry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an especially good grandfather. He was hard working, enjoyed helping others, and trusted people. He loved woodwork, but would tackle anything. He was the retired owner of Berry's Washateria and former Reserve Deputy with the Angelina County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, but moved his membership to Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Berry served his country with the United Stated Air Force during World War II. He was a Master Mason and a member of Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his son, James O. Berry, Jr. and wife Marie of Houston; daughter, Karen Smith and husband Doug of Joaquin; sons, Roger Kevin Berry and wife Betty Jo of Houston and Lowell Keith Berry and wife Martha of Lufkin; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Willmon Berry in 2005; grandson, Wesley Berry; and sister, LaDelle Horn.

Mr. Berry's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Services placed in trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
