Frankie Turbyfill Hicks, 88, of Elk Park, NC died September 8, 2013 at Watauga Medical Center, Boone, NC. She was born in Tazewell, Virginia on December 1, 1924.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Hicks, and brothers, Sonny Turbyfill, and Curtis Turbyfill, her sisters, Ruth Winters and Juanita Trivette, and her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hicks.
She is survived by two sons, Dale Hicks of Morganton, NC, and Carlos Hicks and wife, Dianne, of Banner Elk, NC; two daughters, Rayna Thompson and husband, Neal, of Lenoir, NC and Darlene Hicks of Elk Park, NC; six grandchildren, Ty Thompson, Tim Thompson, Randy Vance, Jeneen Radford, Danielle Hicks, and Carl Hicks; and 9 great-grandchildren, Lauren Thompson, Landon Thompson, Sawyer Thompson, Dekotta Vance, Makayla Radford, Braylee Radford, Will Radford, Madirose and Colt Hicks; a sister, Nicola Pritchard of Elk Park, NC; a brother, Maynard Turbyfill of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
A remembrance service was held in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Reverend Roland Mullinix officiating. Burial in the Alvin Hicks Family Cemetery, Elk Park, NC.
