Born on the Eastern Shore, Evelyne was a longtime resident of Portsmouth.She attended Longwood College and Old Dominion University.She retired from the federal government civil service, Portsmouth Naval Hospital-Ophthalmology in 1997.She also held a variety of support positions for many years at Frederick Military Academy.Most recently, Evelyne was a volunteer reader and an activity coordinator at the Maryview Nursing Care Center in Suffolk.
Although born and raised a Baptist, Evelyne converted to Catholicism 41 years ago.She was an active parishioner at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Portsmouth.
Evelyne is survived by her identical twin sister, Sarah Colanthiae Rippon Carignan; four children, Roy J. Ayres III and wife, Debbie, Sarah Ayres Boehling and husband Rich, Thomas Rooks Ayres and Maria Robins Ayres; grandchildren, Roy J. Ayres IV, Catherine Christine Ayres, Richard Louis Boehling III, Sarah Rippon Boehling and Julia Ross Boehling.
