Ross David Atkinson Sr. 61, of North Sewickley Twp. died Friday, March 19, 1993 at the Medical Center in Beaver County.
He was born jan. 23, 1932 in Rockport, W. Va., to the late Edward and Rebecca Longnecker Atkinson.
Mr. Atkinson was employed at the Brighton Electric Steel casting for over 30 years. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of the Word Alive Church of Ellwood City.
Mr. Atkinson was the president of Local Union 14766 United Steel workers of America, for 15 years.
He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean conflict.
H is survived by his wife, Jolene R.(Bowser) Atkinson; five children: Ross D. Atkinson Jr. of North Sewickley Twp. Katherine Ketterer of Albuquerque, NM Mrs. Charles .(Jacqueline) Kenney of Chicago Ill., Mrs. Schaun (Lucinda) Kopper Sr. of NOrth Sewickley Twp. Mrs. Scott (Rebecca) Blair of North Sewickley Twp.; and 18 grandchildren: Rebecca Jo Atkinson; Mary Beth Kristophel; Kelly Atkinson; Jolene and Stacy Ketterer; Elizabeth, Laurie,Lisa and Joseph Kenney; Rachel, Schaun Jr., Daniel,Matthew,and Michael Kopper, Michelle, Hope, Stephanie, and Benjamin Blair; a brother Shannon Atkinson of Beaver Falls; three sisters Mrs. walter (Genorah) Kaskalavic of San Jose, Calif, Mrs. Paul (Wanda) Paxton of Beaver Falls, and Mrs. Fred (Betty) Mariotti of South Beaver Twp.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and James Atkinson, and five sisters, Mary, Nellie Atkinson, Esther Parris, Cora Channels and Myrtle Barnes.
Friends will be received rom 12 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm tommorrow at the Campbell Beaver Falls Funeral Home. A service will be conducted there at 2pm Monday with his pastor Cliff Reynolds officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Campbell's Williamsburg Chapel Mausoleum in Chippewa Twp.
