Steven is the son of Henry Maddocks and Mercy (Bridges) Maddocks. Henry and Mercy married in Wells on December 11, 1782. Henry died in Parsonsfield, Maine on August 25, 1821. Steven has a brother, Nahum Maddocks, who died in Swanville, Maine on January 8, 1868 and who is buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville. Another brother, Henry Maddocks, married Hannah Littlefield in Wells on December 29, 1814. Intent had spelling of Maddocks (pg. 188), marriage had spelling as Maddox (pg. 173).
Steven's grandfather was John Maddocks, who was born in Wells, Maine on May 21, 1725, and married Sarah Kimball Thompson in Wells on August 22, 1747. John died July 18, 1812. Steven's uncle, Amos Maddox, died November 10, 1857 and is buried in Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk, Maine.

Located on Hobbs Road, Community Cemetery is .3 miles in on the left on the dirt road from Stone Road, another dirt road. From Rte. 11, take Hicks Road, then onto Stone Road, then onto Hobbs Road. The cemetery is in a wooded area along the road.
