Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Baptist Church Building B with Dr. Gil Lain, pastor and Asher Day officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Joe was born on May 1, 1937 in Tulia, Texas to Opal and Ronald Day. He moved to Amarillo in 1942. Joe graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955. He attended Amarillo College and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from West Texas A & M University in 1958.
He worked for Thomas and Watson CPA firm in Tulia, Texas from 1958 to 1961. He worked as an accountant for Producer's Grain for 21 years from 1961 to 1982.
Joe had been member of Paramount Baptist Church since 1969. He married Helen Charlene Campbell on October 18, 1957 at Second Baptist Church in Amarillo. Joe was a wonderful husband and father and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Day, of the home; two sons, Rick Day and wife Teai of Amarillo and Randy Day and wife Renee of Dallas; two brothers, Kenneth Day and wife Pattie and Richard Day and wife Karen, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Aaron and wife Erin; Asher and wife Ruth; Anna, Ariel, Grace and Nathan; one great-grandchild, Holden; several wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to National MS Society, Greater, 6222 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, TX 79109 or Paramount Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 3801 S. Western, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
