Two men were drowned and a missing 7-year-old boy believed to have met death in three separate tragedies in the vicinity of this city yesterday afternoon.

Charles Bardrich [sic], 60 Riverton drowned in the Sangamon river near Springfield.

Bardirch [sic] had gone with George Dove and Sylvester Barch to a swimming place near the Illinois Central railroad bridge. According to Barch and Dove, Bardrich seeking relief from the heat hesitated at the bank only long enough to remove his hat and shoes then preceded into the river without removing his working clothes. He sank almost immediately from sight and his companions could not locate him. His body was recovered at 5:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

The victim is survived by his wife, Amanda; a son Charles, of Dawson; and two daughters, Mrs. Charles _____ [not legible], of Springfield and Mrs. Roy Richardson, of Riverton. Three sisters, Mrs. Henry Rentschler, of Dawson, Mrs. Ollie Neville, of Detroit, Mich.; and Mrs. Alice Kiske, of Kansas; and five grandchildren also survive.

He was a member of the United [?] Mine Workers of America and of the Riverton Methodist Episcopal church.

He lived the greater part of his life in Riverton.

The remains of Charles Bardrick, who was drowned in the Sangamon river Sunday afternoon, will be removed to the residence at Riverton at 5 o'clock this evening.

Funeral services will be held a 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

Interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.

A coroner's jury returned a verdict of death by accidental drowning.
