Mrs. Maude L. Stahlhut, 73, of 7 Leverett Lane, died at 3:15 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland.
She was a former school teacher and a former operator of Giger Insurance Agency in Edwardsville.
Born Dec. 8, 1900, in Highland, she was the daughter of the late George and Mattie Ormsby Giger. She was married to Elmer C. Stahlhut on Dec. 31, 1919, in Lawrenceville. He died Oct. 31, 1946.
She is survived by a sister, Leota Giger of Edwardsville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of the Edwardsville Chapter 667 Order of the Eastern Star, past worthy matron of Star 1947, member of the Past Matrons Club, the Edwardsville Monday Club, the Edwardsville Republican Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1299 and of the First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville.
Friends may call at Weber Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday. The Order of the Eastern Star Service will be at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Weber Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Wayne Cox, Clarence Hoppe, Arthur Eichoff, Oscar Bardelmeier, Ralph Irwin and Dale Giger.
