Jonathan Lawson, 61, of Brown County, Ind., a native of Terre Haute, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011, at his home. Born in Terre Haute, on Sept. 20, 1949, Mr. Lawson was the son of Charles Thomas and Dorothy Kathleen Walker Lawson. He married Pam Moatz on Oct. 3, 1970.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Lawson received a bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in 1983, and he was a mechanical engineer. He was a collector of Oliver tractors.

Survivors include his wife; his father of Okeechobee, Fla.; children, Angie (David) Quintanilla of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jonathan (Melissa) Lawson II of Keene, Texas; grandchildren, Adriana, D.J., Cailyn, Lauren, Trinity and Valarie; sisters, Mary (Richard) Halverson of Idaho, and Debbie (Gene) Fulford of Okeechobee; a brother, David (Marjorie) Lawson of Rockland, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a nephew, David Lawson..

A private family graveside service will be conducted at Christiansburg Cemetery, in Brown County, with Jonathan Lawson II officiating. Full military rites will be presented by the Brown County Veterans Color Guard. Arrangements were made by Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home in Columbus.
