William married MISS SARAH VICTORIA ATKINSON on August 22, 1878. She was the youngest daughter of John and Elizabeth Atkinson. Sarah was some years William's junior. She was born October 6, 1857. They had one son, WILLIAM EDWARD GEORGE WRIGHT, who was born December 19, 1880 in Chicago, Illinois. He continues to reside there.

In 1880 William Henry Wright formed a partnership with his brother Samuel Burdy Wright and P. L. Hanscom in a Drug Label Printing Company. The successful business was located at 104 and 106 Madison St. in Chicago, Illinois. While they were moving the business to a new location in the fall of 1886, William fell down an elevator shaft. It took him three or four years to recover from the one story fall. He was so badly injured that he retired from the firm for a year or two to recuperate. He was able to return to work again later as a proofreader and compositor. He continued to reside in Chicago except for some extended vacations. He and his wife spent 1897 and 1898 traveling in Mexico, California, and other southern and western states. In 1904 due to his wife's health, they went to the Denver, Colorado area. They did a lot of recreational activities, including climbing Pike's Peak.
