Frederick L. Kindler, 79
-Frederick "Fritz" Lang Kindler, 79, died Aug. 28, 2013, from complications of emphysema and COPD. -Fritz was born April 19, 1934, in Coeur d'Alene to Ruth (Lang) and Ray H. Kindler. Fritz was raised in Coeur d'Alene, attended local schools and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1952. On June 7, 1953, Fritz married Anne M. Young and the couple lived in Coeur d'Alene where they raised their family. Fritz was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and cherished his family. Fritz was a contractor specializing in heavy construction, working in the Northwest and Alaska. Fritz was an employer who garnered loyalty among his employees for his honesty, fairness and sincerity. His family moved with him to various job sites, but always returned to Coeur d'Alene. In later years, he and Anne would often spend winters in Yuma, Ariz. Fritz's great passion was always cars and he spent many years building and restoring all kinds of automobiles. He truly made a name for himself within the "collector car" community. He was extremely creative and an extraordinary craftsman and these talents were evident in the cars he completed. His woody sedan with teardrop trailer won awards, as did his most recent endeavor, a Bantam roadster. He absolutely loved spending time in his shop working on the various cars. He was also very generous with his time and ideas. Often his shop was the gathering place and his phone seemed to ring nonstop! In later years when his health limited his activities, he enlisted the aid of other local car craftsmen, making the rounds of the shops to check on the progress of a car (or cars!). Fritz was also an accomplished woodworker, building beautiful furniture for family and friends. He also loved his pets and often there was a miniature Dachshund at his side. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife Anne, in June of this year. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Brian Kroetch, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Susan Kindler; as well as grandchildren, Amanda Dodson, Ethan Dodson, and Sarah Kindler.
-In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Fritz's memory to the Kootenai Humane Society at P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at English Funeral Chapel, 1133 North Fourth St, Coeur d'Alene. Father Roger LaChance will be presiding.
